WordPress Theme Detector

WordPress Theme & Plugin Detector

Enter any website URL to detect its WordPress theme, active plugins, and WordPress version. Works on any publicly accessible WordPress site.

How Detection Works

  • Fetches the website HTML via a CORS proxy and scans for WordPress fingerprints (generator meta tag, wp-content, wp-includes, wp-json, xmlrpc.php)
  • Extracts the active theme slug from /wp-content/themes/ paths in the HTML
  • Extracts all plugin slugs from /wp-content/plugins/ path references
  • Enriches theme and plugin data with name, version, author, ratings, and install counts from the WordPress.org API
  • Results include direct links to WordPress.org theme/plugin pages for further research
  • Works on any publicly accessible WordPress site - no login required, no installation needed

Privacy First: Your files are processed securely. Whenever possible, processing happens in your browser and files are never stored on our servers.

Instantly find out which WordPress theme any website is running. Enter a URL and the tool fetches the site's HTML via a CORS proxy, scans for WordPress fingerprints (generator meta tag, wp-content paths, wp-json, xmlrpc.php), and extracts the active theme slug from the page source. It then queries the WordPress.org Themes API to enrich the result with the full theme name, version number, author, description, active install count, star rating, and a screenshot preview. A direct link to the theme's WordPress.org page is provided for quick access. If the theme is a child theme, the parent theme relationship is noted. Results can be copied to clipboard or exported as JSON. Works on any publicly accessible WordPress site - no login, no installation, no API key required. Useful for designers studying competitors, developers replicating a site's look, and digital marketers researching industry trends.

How to Use

  1. 1Type or paste any website URL into the input field - include https://, or just the bare domain like example.com - and press Detect
  2. 2Wait a few seconds while the tool fetches the page HTML through a CORS proxy and scans it for WordPress fingerprints
  3. 3Read the status banner - 'WordPress Detected' (teal) means the site is confirmed as WordPress; 'Not a WordPress Site' (gray) means no WP fingerprints were found
  4. 4If detected, check the WordPress version badge in the status banner (shown if the site has a visible generator meta tag)
  5. 5Expand the Detection Signals section to see exactly which WordPress signals were found (generator tag, wp-content, wp-json, etc.)
  6. 6Read the Active Theme card - it shows the theme name, version, author, active install count, star rating, and a screenshot preview
  7. 7If the theme is listed on WordPress.org, click 'View on WordPress.org' to open the theme's official page in a new tab
  8. 8Click Copy to copy all detection results to your clipboard as formatted plain text, or Export JSON to download a structured JSON file
