A dual-purpose converter for two important volume-derived quantities used in physics and engineering. The Specific Volume tab covers the reciprocal of density - how much volume a unit mass occupies - with 9 units across SI/Metric (m³/kg, L/kg, mL/kg, cm³/g, mm³/g) and Imperial (ft³/lb, in³/lb, US gal/lb, UK gal/lb). Specific volume appears throughout thermodynamics (steam tables, refrigerant properties), HVAC, chemical engineering, and fluid dynamics. The Charge Density tab converts volume charge density - electric charge per unit volume - with 13 units: C/m³, mC/m³, μC/m³, nC/m³, pC/m³ per cubic meter, plus C/cm³, mC/cm³, μC/cm³, nC/cm³, C/L, mC/L, μC/L, and C/ft³ for smaller volumes. Charge density is fundamental to Gauss's law, capacitor design, semiconductor physics, and plasma physics. Both tabs show all conversions simultaneously, support adjustable significant figures and scientific notation, allow click-to-copy and instant reverse conversion, and include a collapsible quick-reference table. 100% browser-based - no data leaves your device.

How to Use

  1. 1Choose a tab at the top: 'Specific Volume' (m³/kg) for thermodynamics/HVAC, or 'Charge Density' (C/m³) for electrostatics
  2. 2Type a number in the input field
  3. 3Select your starting unit from the From dropdown
  4. 4Select your target unit from the To dropdown - the result appears instantly
  5. 5All conversions for that tab appear simultaneously in the results grid
  6. 6Hover any result row to reveal copy and swap buttons
  7. 7Click the copy icon to copy a value to your clipboard
  8. 8Click the swap icon (⇅) on any row to use that unit as the new input and reverse the conversion
  9. 9Use the main swap button (⇄) in the input card to swap From and To units
  10. 10Adjust 'Sig. figures' to control result precision (3 to 12 significant digits)
  11. 11Toggle 'Sci notation' to display very large or very small values in exponential form
  12. 12Open 'Common conversions' at the bottom for a quick reference table relevant to the active tab
