A matrix calculator and unit converter for linear algebra, engineering, and scientific computing. Enter any 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4 matrix, apply a scale factor (unit conversion), and choose a normalization method - all reflected instantly in the transformed output matrix. Scale factor: enter any value or pick a preset (m→cm, ft→m, in→mm, kg→lb, and more). Normalization modes: None (scale only), Frobenius norm (divide by √sum-of-squares), Max absolute value (largest |element| = 1), Row L2 (each row has unit L2 norm), Column L2 (each column has unit L2 norm), and Min-Max [0,1] (rescale entire matrix to unit range). Matrix properties computed from the input: Determinant (via Gaussian elimination with partial pivoting), Trace (sum of diagonal), Rank (row reduction), Frobenius norm. Eigenvalues shown for 2×2 matrices using the exact quadratic formula - real and complex pairs both displayed. Matrix Inverse computed via Gauss-Jordan elimination; shown as N/A when the matrix is singular. Transpose. Copy any result matrix tab-separated. Reset to a preset example with one click. 100% browser-based.

How to Use

  1. 1Select the matrix size: 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4
  2. 2Enter your matrix values in the input grid (use Tab to move between cells)
  3. 3Set a scale factor manually or pick a unit preset (m→cm, ft→m, kg→lb, etc.)
  4. 4Choose a normalization mode if needed (Frobenius, Max Abs, Row/Column L2, Min-Max)
  5. 5The output matrix updates instantly as you type
  6. 6Matrix properties (determinant, trace, rank, Frobenius norm) appear below the output
  7. 7Click the Inverse or Transpose tab to see those derived matrices
  8. 8Click Reset to restore a preset example matrix
  9. 9Use the Copy button to copy the output matrix as tab-separated values
