Is BMI an accurate measure of health?

BMI is a population-level screening tool, not a precise health measure. It does not account for muscle mass, bone density, age, sex, or fat distribution. Athletes may have high BMI despite low body fat; older adults may have 'normal' BMI with high fat.

What is a healthy BMI range?

For most adults, 18.5-24.9 is considered healthy. Underweight: below 18.5. Overweight: 25-29.9. Obese: 30 and above. These thresholds may be adjusted for certain ethnic groups.
